OperaMini 6 & OperaMobile 11 Released for Android

Opera-Logo
Opera Software has updated its line of Mobile browsers by releasing OperaMini 6 and OperaMobile 11 for various mobile operating systems. Both of these browsers are widely used on mobile platforms. While OperaMini is preferred by those who want to cut their data charges as it compresses web pages on server end, OperaMobile works more like a desktop browser, and OperaMobile 11 is even compatible with HTML5.
Demo video
OperaMini 6 is compatible with Android, Blackberry, Symbian and all J2ME enabled mobile devices. On the other hand, OperaMobile 11 provides additional support for Windows Phone 7 and Meego platforms, and even works with HTML5 webpages & apps, thus making it more flexible.
Key changes in OperaMini 6 and OperaMobile 11:
  • Opera logo replaced the wrench icon.
  • Quicker scrolling through web-pages.
  • Scrolling button to further accelerate scrolling.
  • Addition of pinch-zoom feature on supported devices.
  • New “Share” button for sharing webpages on social networks.
You can download OperaMini 6 and OperaMobile 11 by either going to m.opera.com from your mobile device or click here to download the OS specific version.

The Pomegranate Phone

The Pomegranate is a fictional [1] mobile phone created on behalf of the Government of Nova Scotia. The website has comic features such as a video projector, live voice translator, harmonica, coffee maker, and shaving razor, among many other standard features that current leading mobile phones have, but upon clicking "I've seen enough" or "Release date", an array of information about Nova Scotia and its culture is displayed. The campaign, which included online advertising[2] on sites in New England, is an attempt to attract interest in Nova Scotia and establish it as a desirable place to live and do business.[3]
The Pomegranate phone is the latest campaign from Communications Nova Scotia's Come to Life initiative, the place-branding program of the Government of Nova Scotia. Communications Nova Scotia has been criticized by some for spending $300,000 on the ad campaign, though the website received more than 3 million visits from 195 countries/territories[citation needed] since its launch on September 30, 2008, and they are considering it to be very successful.[4]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 10.1 Revised

========

========
 Surprise, surprise! Samsung announced not one, but two tablets during their CTIA event. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 was joined by a reworked version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Both tablets run Android 3.0 Honeycomb with TouchWiz 4.0 user interface.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a 8.9" screen (no surprise here) of WXGA resolution. It measures 230.9 x 157.8 x 8.6mm(!) and weighs just 470g with a 6000mAh battery. The rest of the features are very much like the ones on its bigger brother.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been revised - how Samsung managed to do it so quick we can't tell but the Tab 10.1 now measures 256.6 x 172.9 x 8.6 mm. It used to be 10.9mm thick and a bit lighter - now both the Tab 10.1 and Tab 8.9 are thinner and lighter than the iPad 2. You can check how those three compare in our blog.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 uses a PLS display, which should offer even better image quality than IPS displays. The battery on the 10.1 is 6800mAh.
Both tablets feature 1GHz dual-core CPUs. On the software side they run Android Honeycomb with some new TouchWiz 4.0 modifications. Flash Player 10.2 and Quickoffice HD editor come preinstalled.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Tab 10.1 feature 3MP autofocus primary cameras with 720p video recording and 2MP front-facing cameras. Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth handle local wireless connectivity (v2.1 for Tab 8.9 and v3.0 for Tab 10.1).

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available on 8 June for $499 (16GB version) or $599 (32GB version). The old, thicker version of the Tab 10.1 is still on course to hitting Vodafone stores outside the US so it hasn't been canceled. We are yet to learn more about the availability of the two devices, but we can confirm that the thicker version won't be coming to the US.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 specs also mention a 64GB version, but there's no pricing information for that one yet.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 should launch early this summer for $469 (16GB version) or $569 (32GB). You can always get a microSD card to expand the memory, so getting the bigger version isn't necessary.
Those prices are for Wi-Fi only versions of the tablets - there will be versions with mobile Internet too (quad-band GPRS/EDGE and quad-band 3G with 21Mbps HSPA+).

HTC EVO 3D

For those over in Europe who have been hoping that HTC would release the new HTC EVO 3D smartphone outside US shores, the word has come in that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone is destined for Europe.
According to an article over on Android Community by way of German site Smartdroid, HTC France used their official Twitter account to announce that the HTC EVO 3D would indeed be coming to European shores.
Here’s what @HTCFrance tweeted…” Un #HTC Evo 3D pour la France ça vous dit ? Nous oui ! Et même qu’il garde le même nom ;) Date de dispo non confirmée,” which basically means France will gain the HTC EVO 3D under the same name.
However, just when Europe will actually see the launch of the Android smartphone isn’t known or even if other European countries will get the handset, but I can’t see why the HTC EVO 3D would only be release din France outside the US, can you.
So if or more to the point when the HTC EVO 3D comes out to play in Europe will the device be high on your shopping list?
